Once

Once my legs could win races

Faster than all athletes every time

Once my legs could walk for miles

Up mountains, by rivers and across pathways

Now my legs no longer dance

Nor jump, nor walk, nor run

Now my legs just stagger

Just drag and stumble

Now my legs are no fun

Background: I used to be a successful 100m sprinter. My favourite outings are ones that have great views: rivers, mountains (snow-capped are best!) and seeing animals in their natural setting. MS has made it harder to take such trips (wheelchairs can't always be used) and I totally miss the thrill of running fast
