Going Outside
An air of hope
drifts through the open window,
calling us to step outside.
Running smiles smell the
scent of an irresistible escape.
We bound to the door
knowing our time has come.
Thriving flowers mould a path
to our enjoyment, stretching minds
beyond the despair of closed doors.
Birds weave their clean flight above
whistling their approval.
A magnificent reach for life
framed in windows, now free
to receive every touch, every cry
from liberated souls, embracing
their play with freedom.
We must protect this new prize.
Background: One of many of my lockdown poems. Don't you think nature is soaring at the moment? The air seems cleaner, the animals are enjoying it.
