Find the Colour

If we turn off the lights and swallow the sun

we will keep the air free from all things wrong,

no need to run, no need to search

here the world knows how to rest.

Stop, slow down, we don’t need to rush

inside darkness all movement is calm,

we can sit and wait and look after time

no room to trip or fall to the ground.

But the conversation’s stale, we’ve eaten the words

feel how the hours hang round our necks,

this tightening world is safe, but empty

soon we’re going to have to risk the walk.

Open the curtains, give back the sun

open the door and find those feet,

a step of hope, a step to be brave

make a mistake, but find the colour.
