Astronaut

 

My astronaut sleeps on a star,

tired from searching planets

for galactic friends.

His lonely mission finds only moon

and one sole star,

who winks at him offering comfort.

I want to climb up there,

be his friend and blow bubbles at the night,

but I don’t have a rocket.

They’re only for grown-ups.

I could use my climbing frame

to be nearer the sky and

stand at the top of my slide.

Would that bring me near?

If only he could see me,

he’d lower a rope down

and ask me to climb.

Together, we could watch the moon smile.
